T-BALL
AGE
Players ages 4-6 play T-Ball (League Age)
SKILLS AND DIVISION EMPHASIS
· Players will learn the names of all the bases
· The players will learn to run the bases
· They are introduced to playing catch
· They learn how to swing a bat
· The players hit the ball off a Tee. (Later in the season, coach pitch is used when the players are ready)
· Base distances are 45 feet
· Many players are new to baseball
· No score is kept
HOW ARE TEAMS DETERMINED?
· The league’s staff selects the teams based on the players’ various requests
· Players may request specific friends or coaches
· Coaches may request certain players
· If there are no specific requests, players are aligned by schools or neighborhoods
· The league does a “best efforts” to meet the family requests. No guarantees are made
· There are 10 – 13 players per team
HOW MANY GAMES AND TEAMS ARE THERE?
· T-Ball usually has 6-8 teams in the Spring and they play 8 games
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE GAMES AND PRACTICES?
· Practices for all divisions are generally held at the Tempe Sports Complex; however, some coaches choose to have practices at the local parks or schools.
· The coach has discretion to select the specific times, days and locations of the practices
· Games are on Thursday nights at 6:00pm and Saturday mornings s at 9:00am
· Practices are generally on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings
SIGNIFICANT RULES
· No one sits out of the game defensively. All players are in the field
· Players should rotate between infield and outfield each inning
· All players bat each inning, a continuous batting order
· Games are scheduled for 3 innings, usually taking 1 hour and 15/20 minutes
